Mt.Meru Trekking

Mount Meru National Park.

Mt. Meru boasts a height of 4562m making it the second highest mountain in Tanzania and Kilimanjaro little sister. Mt. Meru can be used for trekking or even as practice before climbing Kilimanjaro. All treks up this mountain are accompanied by an armed ranger due its slopes being within Arusha National park and home to various wildlife such as Giraffe, Buffaloes, Baboons, Elephans, Antelopes, Colobus and monkeys but don’t worry as well as you will accompanied by the an Army Ranger all the way up and down  This trek takes 4 days with 3 nights being spent in shelters, when reaching the peak of Mt. Meru you can see a spectacular view of a small ash crater along with a stunning view of its sister Kilimanjaro.

Itinerary

Day 1. Momella Gate – Miriakamba hut

Walking time about: 5 hours

Night speech during Dinner before Bed

Day 2. Miriakamba – Saddle hut

Altitude 2500m – 3550m

Walking time about: 4 hours

Night speech during Dinner before Bed

Day 3. Saddle hut – Socialist Peak – Miriakamba hut

Altitude 3550m – 4565m – 2500m

Walking time about: 13 hours

Day 4. Miriakamba – Momella Gate
